Steering Committee and Stakeholders meeting

Presentation by Dr. Getachew Tikubet, by Prof. David Rogers, inauguration of the Yeha Natural resource center, questions and recommendations and finally task to be undertaken generally in the next three months were what the last meeting of the steering committee and stakeholders pondered about on August 26, 2006.

The meeting held in the conference Hall of Yeha NRMI, gave a clear picture about what Yeha stands for, what it has been working on and achieved so far and what it should be working.

Dr. Getachew's presentation highlighted the reason behind the name of the institution. The enlightening information showed how the vision of the institution can be related to the age old glory of the continent. After the Resource Center of the Institution was officially inaugurated Prof. Rogers's presentation dwelt upon Yeha NRMI structure. The discussion that followed his presentation underlined on BEA Board that will be the highest body under Yeha NRMI structure.

The professor's presentation also discussed at great length the major division agreed on should be Teaching, Research and Development. He emphasized on the need to make foreign language an important component. Securing a strong link with regional governments, universities (both Ethiopian and International), Institutes (Ethiopian and International) was also given emphasis by the professor. The meeting also discussed the role of praxis Ethiopia foundation that is believed to best contribute by finding scientist to help Yeha.

Suggested topics for Foundation courses, duration of courses and modalities were also discussed. The meeting was successfully ended by passing on recommendation on tasks to be undertaken in the coming few month.
